I personally have not found a good reason to ever use a Lucas mill. If you want 2x4s and 2x6s, its fast. But if you have expensive logs and want to saw furniture wood, bandsaw is the only way to go. I do a lot of 28 inch wide boards for table tops and that is not possible to do with the Lucas mill.
